What does the band provide?

ALCHEMY provides everything for a full evening’s musical entertainment.

For the band’s sets, each instrument is separately miked or directly inputted to a 16 channel mixing desk and amplified through a 4.7 kilowatt state-of-the-art sound system. Full band and disco lights come as part of the package. Our sound engineer has a computerised selection of songs which can be programmed for use as a disco, or as background or dinner music. Live dinner music can also be provided by a duo of a singer and keyboard player.

How loudly do you play?

ALCHEMY want their audiences to get up and dance to their music and that requires a certain volume. But we always aim to play at a level appropriate to the venue and the occasion, at a volume with which the majority of the audience will be happy.

What does the client need to provide?

A minimum performance area of 6m x 3m, preferably a stage. A safe supply of electricity terminating on or near the stage area. We’ll need easy access to the venue, so, if appropriate, car parking spaces for a minimum of 3 vehicles should be made available.

We’ll need to change clothes before going on stage so a secure changing room, large enough for six people would be appreciated. Since we arrive to set up well before a function begins and leave some time after it’s finished, we would wish to be included in any catering arrangements you make. We’re happy to eat in a separate room from the guests.

How much do you charge?

ALCHEMY have six members of the band plus a sound engineer to be paid and travel costs to be considered. We’ve also invested thousands of pounds in equipment and many, many hours of rehearsal. While we may only play two 45 minute sets, for example, remember that we have to arrive a couple of hours before a function begins to set up equipment and sound check, then wait until the end of the evening before packing up. What are the contractual arrangements?

On booking the band you will be sent a contract for signature. It will specify the date, time and venue for the function and the duration of the sets to be played by ALCHEMY plus any other agreed details. If the function is subsequently cancelled, a sliding scale of cancellation charges will apply, depending on the proximity of the date of the function.
